C3 Concert

On Saturday, February 7th at 4pm, C3 will perform the North American premiere of Roger Wesby’s Misa mésotica. Commissioned by the Café Chorale of Costa Rica, Wesby’s assignment was to create a Latin Mass for choir and piano, that made ample use of the musical elements of Latin American music. The five-movement work incorporates Costa Rican popular song, dance, folk and popular music styles, while illuminating the text and meaning of the Mass.

To complement this work, C3 will also perform Estévez’s Mata del Anima Sola, which evokes gaucho life on the Venezuelan llanura, and Astor Piazzola’s Adios Nonino, His first tango nuevo masterpiece. Stretto Vocal Ensemble will perform folklore from Peru, Colombia and Cuba, and two well-known Brazilian bossa nova-based works. Pianist Gregory Nissan, Violinist Diane Perry, guitarist Ed Brown and bassist Jeremy Heuler will be featured. Tickets are $20
